Within the sport of Rugby, whether it is through the growth of the women’s game, taking rugby to all part of society or supporting the IGR Rugby Competition, diversity and inclusion are subjects which the game supports at all levels.
East Midlands Referees will be showing their support for this on the field of play by wearing rainbow laces, which are widely recognised as a means of demonstrating support for Diversity and Inclusion.
The referee’s society recently purchased laces for their members through Northampton Outlaws Rugby Club, the local IGR team. All the proceeds from this are being donated by the Outlaws to local charities which they support on an ongoing basis.
Bruce Benyon from East Midlands Referees was very pleased to accept these laces from the President of The Outlaws Club, Simon Laws recently after an Outlaws game.
“We first purchased laces through Northampton Outlaws several seasons ago and many of our members have since then been proud to wear them as a demonstration of their support both for the Outlaws as a team and Diversity and Inclusion within the game. With our new stock of laces, we can now allow all our new members to join in this demonstration of our support.
